CLUB MEETING OCT 11

I ran out of power on my camera, but of course I always carry a spare set of batteries. But guess what? The spares were not charged either. So I will show the only two images I have. If anyone has some photos they would like me to include in this posting e-mail them to me at pg_holt@charter.net.

Jeff brought in this forest which had some wonderful fall red and rust colors on the back right tree. I really liked the structure of the trunks and the fall colors of the moss.

I tediously edited the photo to remove the clutter. I think I may have to get a back drop for future photos.

John just getting started on pruning this juniper. He obviously has a more trimming to do.

Just a few pictures from our September meeting.


George is making some suggestions on bringing a branch down to improve the design of this informal upright Olive.

Kanemi is working with this new very young bonsai. I have no idea what the name of this plant is.

Phil is helping his son with this very nice juniper. It looks like a Procumbens Nana to me.

This is a magnificent California Juniper. I love the Shari which has just been painted with lime sulfpher to preserve the wood.

SANTA MARIA OBON FESTIVAL

Timing of my arrival at the Veterans Memorial Building was very lucky, as I walked up the sidewalk I could feel my body vibrate to the beat of drums. Their performance was quite a treat.

BONSAI DEMONSTRATION
Kanemi has selected a boxwood for his demonstration. This is not the time of the year for serious root pruning, but the boxwood is more tolerant to root pruning in the summer.


The plant has been removed from the nursery can and pruning has started.


Pruning nearly complete.

Kanemi is now wrapping wire on the branches to allow him to move them and style the tree.

The styling is and root pruning complete and the boxwood can be planted in the bonsai tray.
